I specialize in being an operator, setting up and operating SD or HD video cameras. I work with the TD, video engineer and production manager to locate all camera placements for the production. The production can be a reality shoot, a corporate event in the convention center or a concert. I work live events that can include speeches from the President of the United States, product introductions like the auto shows, hip replacement surgeries and more. I work the long lenses in the back of the room on risers or the covers on sticks with wheels ready to “pop off” to go hand held. What ever the production, I am responsible for setting up and balancing the camera rigs, and running CCU, Tri-X, or fiber from our camera position back to “video village”.
I work live or live-to-tape. I feed down the line to recorders, satellite up links and Imag. I listen to the call of the TD and give them the shot asked for, or work freelance and “sell” the shot to the TD. And, unlike most independent camera operators, I function as an LLC with liability and workers compensation insurances. And arriving in 2012, Elliott Visuals will launch a subsidiary, which will help clients locate and hire professional camera operators. Go to vidcamop.com for more info.
